You probably remember Le Marseillois, the bateau-restaurant moored in the Vieux Port just opposite the Mairie;
and you probably remember it sinking on 11th September last year. Since then,no news, but throughout November, the wreck is being dismantled and the work is due to finish by the end of the month. Eight divers are going down with high-pressure equipment to cut the ship into chunks which are then taken
by barge round to the docks for disposal. Their work is probably lighter in that some bits of the ship and its contents have disappeared since it sank, thanks to souvenir-hunters.
And the mysterious circumstances in which it sank so quickly remain as murky as the waters around it.
