Good news for visitors and Marseille commuters alike. The navettes from the Vieux Port to both Pointe Rouge and L’Estaque are back in service from today til the 28th September.
They were introduced mainly for people going to work in the town centre but have proved a great hit with tourists; and no wonder. You get a wonderful view of Marseille and its beaches in one direction, or its docks in the other, for 3€ per one-way trip.
Both journeys take 40 minutes.
The boat to Pointe Rouge leaves on the hour, 7:00-19:00; return trips also on the hour.
The boat to L’Estaque is also hourly: 7:30-19:30. From mid-May, there will be evening services on both routes.
Passengers doing a round trip have to get off at the other end and get back on again. But that’s no hardship with the beach and cafés at Pointe Rouge to visit, while at L’Estaque you can do a walking tour (follow panels) and tuck into the yummy local panisse! Bon Voyage.
