A ballet of mechanical diggers on the beach is the latest quixotic offering from the MP2013 programme. Six dancers will team up with three tractopelles on the Prado beach for a 20 minute display on May 10th and 11th. They will stage, according to the website, an ‘impossible meeting between vulnerable dancers and the unsuspected tenderness of machines’.
‘Bonkers these Europeans,’ I was thinking to myself, before googling the company Motionhouse and discovering that they are from Royal Leamington Spa!
The breathless blurb, however, which is European, assures us of choreography which is ‘mécanique, violente et sensible’. Hmmm. More of the same here: http://www.mp2013.fr/evenements/2013/05/traction-ballet-de-tractopelles-cie-motionhouse/ There will also be dancing from the Ballet National de Marseille at Gare St Charles on the same dates.
Aix, ever more restrained, is offering a ‘Marathon Culturel’, on Saturday 11th, aimed at families. It’s apparently an annual event and fun. 14:30 at the Rotonde. Details here maratho culturel and thanks to Anne at www.sociologicalobserver.com for this info – and also for letting me know that the wonderful La Tarte Tropezienne café, selling the original pastries, now has a small outlet in rue Gaston de Saporta. Enjoy!
